Sean Claes from INsite Austin Magazine was at Holy Mountain to catch the Free Week show with ROXY ROCA, Money Chicha, Como Las Movies (ex-Maneja Beto), and a DJ set from Peligrosa member Manolo Black. Check out these great photos he took:
Last night’s show at Holy Mountain was truly amazing. We are grateful to have been included in such a stellar line-up, including Money Chicha, Como Las Movies (ex-Maneja Beto), and a DJ set from Peligrosa member Manolo Black. Holy Mountain has done an amazing job of breathing new life into the 7th & Red River scene and last night the place was jumpin’ — capacity crowd with a line down the block at times!
Photography By Maurice was there to capture a few choice shots:

Spice up your Saturday night with two distinctly Austin acts: Southern Soul revivalists Roxy Roca join Austin’s only Chicha band (cumbia Colombino), Money Chicha, for a multicultural Free Week celebration Saturday, January 12th at Austin’s Best New Venue (as polled by Culture Map), Holy Mountain. DJ sets by Manolo Black.

Austin Vida published a really nice preview of this Saturday’s Free Week show at Holy Mountain. Check out the full preview here: [1/12] Preview: Money Chicha, Como Las Movies and Roxy Roca at Holy Mountain.
Co-headliners Roxy Roca are an Austin-based southern style soul band, a throwback to when bands wore ties and horns were a must. Although they are not a Latin band, Roxy Roca fit well with this particular bill as they certainly keep the party going. The danceable soulsters are more proof that soul is alive and well here in Austin. Roxy Roca is a must hear for fans of bands like Brownout, T-Bird and The Breaks and Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears.
It’s time for another funk party at Antone’s on Friday, January 18, 2013: ROXY ROCA gets your night started right at 9pm followed by Suite 709 at 10:30pm and The Scabs at midnight. A little love for ROXY ROCA in France: “Try My Love” is featured on the French funk web site Funkology. We are thrilled and humbled to see the word spreading.
Ce groupe d’ Austin nous propose ce titre bigrement efficace en préambule de leur futur album.
I don’t know what it means, but it looks good! Learn more about Funkology (if you speak French) on https://funk-o-logy.com.
